Interview with Fernando Guimarães, Head Coach of the Brazilian Women’s Sitting Volleyball National Team, about the World ParaVolley Level 2 Coach Course in China

1. What was the course, and who was the target audience?

This was the first Level 2 Coaching Course by World ParaVolley, aimed at coaches who have completed Level 1 or who have taken national courses in standing volleyball in their respective countries.

2. How was your experience in China? Do you feel you were able to share everything you wanted with the participants?

I really enjoyed the experience. I was accompanied by two highly qualified tutors, Lorenzo (Italy) and Robin (Netherlands), and I believe we formed a cohesive team, complementing each other across various topics. I tried to contribute with my on-court experience, and I think the course was very beneficial for everyone involved.

3. Do you feel that you also learned from this course?

Absolutely! I was impressed by the advancements in performance analysis and became even more convinced that, regardless of our level, we must keep updating ourselves.

4. Are there plans for new coaching courses?

Yes, we’re very satisfied with the results and already have plans for new courses starting in January 2025. I also returned with several ideas to develop a national coaching course here in Brazil.

5. Would you like to leave a message for the PVPA community?

Sitting volleyball is growing, expanding, and evolving rapidly. It’s essential that courses, workshops, and lectures be held frequently, so that we can train well-prepared coaches and, consequently, create more job opportunities in the field.
