After 14 matches an electrifying championship finished in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada, the host team has become the champion, winning the gold medal and qualifying for the Tokyo2020 Paralympics.     

     With a golden campaign losing just 1 set against the German team on the first day, and after winning all 6 matches (Slovenia, Germany, Ukraine, Finland) they played in the tournament, Canada played in an incredible final against the Ukrainian team winning by 3×0 and winning the bid to Tokyo 2020.
     In addition to a gold medal and a stamp in their passports, the Canadian team also won 4 spots in the “All-Star Team”, Danielle Ellis the team captain as MVP (Most valuable player), Jolan Wong Best Libero, Jennifer Oakes Best Server and Sarah Melenka as Best Setter.


     With the qualification of Canada, the Pan American zone will be represented by 3 out of 8 teams for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The Canadians join the already qualified teams from USA and Brazil. Other teams competing in Tokyo include China, Italy, Russia, Rwanda and host country Japan.
